Monument to the Guardian Angel of Poland

The statue of the Guardian Angel of Poland was erected at the Parish of St. Peter and St. Paul. The company is based in St. John the Baptist Church in Przemyśl. The angel sculpture was created in 2018 and the unveiling took place on January 27, 2019. The ceremony at the archcathedral with a concert was honored by the children’s highland band from Raba Wyżna „Little Janosik Army”. The Guardian Angel of Poland was consecrated by the Metropolitan of Przemyśl Archbishop Adam Szal.

” A monument to the Guardian Angel of Poland has been erected at the Przemyśl Archcathedral. The monument was created with contributions from parishioners from all over the region, this initiative is related to the period of the January Uprising and the figure of Blessed Father Bronislaw Markiewicz.
The author of the monument is Piotr Garstka, and it was funded by the faithful of many parishes – mainly of the Przemyśl archdiocese, but also outside it. The idea of its creation dates back to the January Uprising, when Blessed Fr. Bronislaw Markiewicz, just before his matriculation at a high school in Przemyśl, was so moved by the vision of the Angel exhorting Poles to be faithful to the most important Christian values that he entered the seminary.

The angel also reportedly foretold that a certain young priest would sacrifice himself for poor children and abandoned youth, as well as that Poland would be reborn and give the world a Pope – a Pole. In his later activities, Father Markiewicz established an educational institution for abandoned and neglected youth in Miejsce Piastowe. He was also the founder of the Congregation of St. Joseph. The Archangel Michael.”
